Compensation Is Not A Synonym For "Give It Away"

On November 21, 2008 Barbara Loe Fisher uttered:

Vaccine Injury Compensation: A Failed Experiment in Tort Reform?

Managing Editor's Note: Barbara Loe Fisher, president of the National Vaccination MIS-Information Center spoke in front of the Advisory Commission on Childhood Vaccines last Tuesday.

Blah, blah, blah about the history of the VIC program.

During its two-decade history, two out of three individuals applying for federal vaccine injury compensation have been turned away empty-handed even though to date $1.8B has been awarded to more than 2,200 plaintiff's out of some 12,000 who have applied. Today, nearly 5,000 vaccine injury claims are sitting in limbo because they represent children, who suffered brain and immune system dysfunction after vaccination but have been diagnosed with regressive autism, which is not recognized by the program as a compensable event. There is $2.7B sitting in the Trust Fund which could have been awarded to vaccine victims.

Dear Barbie:

The title of the program is "Vaccine Injury Compensation" not "give it away to anyone who comes up with a nutty theory" of why they should get some bucks. Those people who were validly injured by vaccines were compensated. Those who were not, were denied compensation.

Since the level of proof is so low, it is obvious that since they were turned away, they did not have a reasonably supported claim.

Imagine if the utterly rotten and bogus "science" of Andy Wakefield was the basis for a few thousand claims. Prof. Bustin recently ripped Andy a new one, on his use of the lousy "science" to cause the fear mongering in England where kids have died. Prof. Bustin recently published RT-qPCR and Molecular Diagnostics: No Evidence for Measles Virus in the GI Tract of Autistic Children, where he said:

"Astonishingly, there is no attempt to retract the original report, and the admission that these results are in direct contradiction of the previously reported ones are thoroughly disingenuous"
Disingenuous? Is that the word that REAL academic scientists use when they cannot spell intellectually bankrupt? I think it is.

Imagine how many incorrect payments would be made if Wakefield were accepted. I suggest that all of the MMR claims in the Omnibus are doomed.

Yes, Barbie, the system is working, just as it was intended.

P. S. Why are you anti-vaccinators still leading people into false beliefs?

Shame on you.

Exactly, and precisely the same reason why the Poling case is not proof of vaccines causing autism.

  2. "A place to post my comments which had been censored on another blog."

How utterly hypocritical of you to post about free speech and how you were so unfairly censored on another site, and yet you delete my posts. Yeah, pot, meet kettle. He's black.

My original post to your hate site was a comment on how ignorance was a lack of knowledge, and that stupidity was willful ignorance, or a refusal to learn, something that DuhProbe, AutismSpewsBleats and Dorkski are all guilty of. Add hypocrisy to that list.

  3. Nun, there is no hypocrisy here. None. You see, this blog does not try to claim that it is a newspare like AoA does. They have arranged for GoogleNews to pick up their feed and, they have "Real Journalists" posting there. This blog does not play "newspaper" anywhere.

In your original you claim that some of the finest bloggers are not willing to learn. Learn what? The garbage spewed by the the AoAers? They do not have a scientific clue amonst all of them. It is THEY who refuse to learn.

As for this blog being a hate site, it is you and the rest of the anti-vaccinators who hate live children.

Now, as Shakespeare said, Get Thee to a nunnery.

  4. I think it's time for an anti-vax registry so the rest of us know whom to sue when they cause the re-emergence of the diseases currently controlled by vaccines.

  5. Let's goone further. I feel that the contributors to AoA should set up a fund to compensate anyone who is injured by following their advice. In a recent article, Not-A-Doctor Handley was sputtering out his advice on vacinations. He says he isn't giving medical advice, but, it sure looks like he is.

Uh, yeah "Free Speaker." We hate live children so much that we want to prevent all children, including yours if you have them (and I feel so sorry for them if you do for having such an idiot and hypocrite for a parent) from ever having autism. Yeah, we hate them so much that we went and vaccinated our children; that is such a difficult concept for you to grasp. Since we hate children so much, we did the right thing and got our children vaccinated, which is why we're in this mess to begin with.

And speaking of hating live kids, you and the rest of your quack buddies don't even want to help these children who are suffering from ASD's. You are the idiots who vote to make sure that insurance companies refuse to cover our kids. You are the asses that don't give a damn when one of these children dies after receiving a vaccine. Oh well, too bad, so sad, but it's all for the "greater good." Yeah, tell that to the parents of the children who die from complications due to vaccine poisoning.

  7. Nun, you do have a serious problem. You have overdosed on red herring.

    1) I favor and support full insurance coverage for all valid treatments for autism, and any other medical condition. I ADO NOAT support insurance coverage for the quack treatments of DAN!, biomed, chelation, lupron, quack labs and the other useless things that desperate parents are enticed to waste their money on.

    2) Any child that is validly injured by vaccination has the right to just and fair compensation. Note the term "validly".

As for the rest of your bleating and braying, do find some help to rid yourself of the anger. I have two special children, and when we stopped looking to blame people for something that happened. We could have sued on of the doctors and, after realizing that it would consume our lives for years, we decided tostop, and go on to be parents.

You could do the same. Learn to deal with your obvious anger, and move on.
