February 13, 2009, Day 1 of the Post AoA Era

With the unanimous decisions of the "Vaccine Court" being handed down yesterday, the issue of vaccines causing autism has finally been decided.

Yes, I know that the there are vestiges of those who still want to promote the failed theory, but, anyone who actually reads the decisions will see that there is no tomorrow for the anti-vaccination junta and their lemmings at AoA. They have ceased being relevant.

It is now time to move on to actually helping parents and persons with Autism live better lives, and to stop throwing money at the failed hypothesis.

  1. I think the "Vaccine Court" rulings are cause for great hope . . . if you're hoping the right thing.

If the hope is that AoA or GR will simply go away, or that rabid anti-vaxers will suddenly see the light, then prepare to be disappointed. I don't see this happening.

However, if the hope is that the media will now begin to give the mercury militia less attention, or feel less inclined to provide "balance" in their coverage of the "controversy," then I think there's a great deal of reason to hope.

If the hope is that people who have been confused or on the fence about what to believe will turn away from AoA . . . then, again, that is a hope that I think will be fulfilled.

Personally, my hope is that we'll have fewer and fewer stories about the "controversy." Let the folks at AoA continue to froth at one another in isolation. The media will, I hope, now begin to treat them with the disrespect they deserve, instead of acting as if they actually have anything valid to contribute to the discussion.

AoA will probably still exist in some shrunken form even five or ten years from now. But I do agree that its heyday has past. "The Post AoA Era." That sounds sweet.

  2. Hmmm...a shrunken AoA. A wonderful thought.

I think you have an excellent analysis of the situation. You will still have the AoA Junta, probably less one who will be dealing with BigFarma and the lemmings will still be whining away.
